The IBEW Local 1928 hockey tournament, which was held this weekend in Tantallon, NS, had an exciting finish with two evenly-matched teams—Point Tupper/Biomass and the Sackville Bucket Monkeys—battling it out in the final on Sunday afternoon. The Bucket Monkeys managed to put one in the net after a scramble in front of the Tupper goalie in the dying minutes of the game, leaving the score tied 1-1 at the close of regular time. After a five-minute overtime playing four-on-four, the score was still tied and it took a shootout to decide which was the better team that day. On Sunday afternoon, it was Point Tupper/Biomass. Thank you to Local President Jim Sponagle who was the tournament organizer. Thank you's go also to Nova Scotia Power, which supplied prizes to the second-place team, and to Tony Stevens, plant manager at Tufts Cove, who sponsored a celebratory steak meal for all the team participants. See you next year when the tournament will be held in Prince Edward Island!
