IBEW Local 1928 is part of a Joint Apprenticeship Committee with Nova Scotia Power Inc. We have three union reps on this committee, they are as follows:

Brian MacEachern, Assistant Business Manager (Union Office)
Ernell Henwood, Leading Maintenance Person (Trenton)
Mort Pelham, Power Engineer (Tuft's Cove)

In 2007 there was an intake of 50 apprentices, this makes a total of approx 98 apprentices under the IBEW/NSPI Apprenticeship Program.

The approximate breakdown of apprentices in the system are as follows:

41 Power Engineer Apprentices
44 Powerline Technicians
13 Apprentices in other various trades
